Breakfast Book Club with Sarah Freethy

We were delighted to welcome local author Sarah Freethy to the launch of Twyford's Breakfast Book Club to discuss her inaugural novel The Porcelain Maker.

Hosted by our Head of English, Olaf Mathar, Sarah discussed the context of the Porcelain Maker especially from an art history perspective and enlightened us with her inspirations, how to tackle a sensitive topic like the Holocaust and the trials of writing a book in lockdown.

We could have talked for hours, but Sarah was needed by the Year 6’s, who enjoyed her insight into script writing, tv production and getting started as a writer.

Thanks to all the parents who came, and we welcome any ideas for our next book club get together.

Thanks also to Sarah for her time today and for kindly donating a hardback signed copy to the School library.
