Alumni and Current Pre-Prep Parent Wins Southampton Marathon in Incredible Time

The School community is celebrating an extraordinary achievement this week, as alumni and current Pre-Prep parent Andy Greenleaf (OT 1995) crossed the finish line as the winner of the 2026 ABP Southampton Marathon, completing the 26.2‑mile course in a remarkable 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 16 seconds.

More than 10,000 runners filled the streets of Southampton on Sunday 3rd May taking part in a full programme of races ranging from the marathon to the half marathon, 10k, and 5k events. Runners tackled a scenic yet demanding route before finishing in the heart of the city at Guildhall Square.

Andy, 43, who lives in Winchester and works in a London bank, was the first runner home, an achievement made even more impressive by the challenging nature of the course.

Speaking after his victory, he said he was “absolutely thrilled” with the result. “It was a great day, absolutely fantastic,” he shared. “The conditions were really good but it was quite a challenging course.”

A seasoned marathoner, Andy has completed the London Marathon an astonishing 17 times, but this Southampton win marks a particularly special milestone.

“Training was lots of running over lots of hills,” he explained. “To win a marathon is something you aim for, but I never expected it. I’ll have to come back next year to defend my title.”
