Twyford was thrilled to welcome back five exceptional musical alumni for a spectacular evening celebrating the School’s rich musical heritage. The event brought together more than 60 guests, including former music staff, alumni parents, past pupils, and members of the current Twyford community. Guests gathered in the Library for drinks before moving into Upper School to enjoy an inspiring showcase of talent.
The returning performers, Eira L (2021), Emma P (2015), Emma P (2020), Sophie K (2019), Josh K (2021), and Benedict P (2014) generously gave their time to share a programme that left the audience spellbound.
Highlights included a commanding performance of Beethoven’s Sonata No. 10, a beautifully expressive rendition of Automne, Op. 35, No. 2 by Cécile Chaminade, elegant Mozart duets, and a set of four vocal pieces by Benedict, featuring Benjamin Britten’s C the Yowes. They were all truly special performaces.
The evening also provided a fitting moment to honour Mr David Hall, Head of Music, as he prepares to leave Twyford at the end of this term after an extraordinary 18 years of service. Former parent Mr Pattison captured the sentiment of the room, noting how fortunate the School has been to have such a gifted and dedicated musician leading its programme for nearly two decades. Mr Hall’s influence on generations of pupils has been profound, and he will be greatly missed.
As he embarks on his next chapter, including examining, composing, individual tuition, and performing, the Twyford community sends him its warmest thanks and very best wishes.
The evening was a joyful reminder of the wonderful musical talent that carries through Twyford and beyond, an inspiring glimpse for pupils of what lies ahead.
